hey everyone, I wanted to tell you about a great customer service experience I had with Dennis from BiB drums. I was checking out new kits and sent him an email at the advise of some people on the board. Not only did he get back to me almost immediatly but he gave me a killer quote on a kit. My only regret was that I found out about BIB drums after I put down a deposit at guitar center. Since I was unable to get my money back I will have to wait till next year or until I unload my stage customs. Check this guy's site out.

I can’t believe this! I came here to post about my experience with Dennis at Bib Drums! I was looking to upgrade a bit but I didn’t want to spend the money. I read some posts about Bib (including you, Bryguy) so I emailed Dennis, just a casual inquiry, and within thirty minutes I get a response. He was polite, personable and made some recommendations that I could not pass up. I’m placing an order for a hand rubbed lacquer maple kit. I'm psyched!

Check out his web site and the story behind his company – very neat.

you should be thrilled, wish I was getting one... I'm totally pissed that I put a deposit down for a pacific MX. Otherwise I would be placing my order.

You got it man. I’ll post the pics he sends me as he builds them – that’s his practice. Dennis is really a great guy. He’s going to deliver the kit himself – he lives about 3 hours away – he likes to meet the folks buying his work and likes to be there when they see the finished product - at this stage in the game he can do that. Talk about pride in craftsmanship! I ordered a five piece kit – kind of mid-to-dark brown lacquer. For heads: clear Emperors for the toms, Powerstroke3 on the bass and an Emperor X on the snare. He doesn’t normally do the heads. The price is what you’d pay for low-end mid-range kit; a fantastic deal for the quality of the materials. You can tell this is really a passion for the guy and he’s doing everything he can do build his business and reputation. I think he’s on the right course!

Does his Maple drums sound as good as Pearl Masters drums? I'm looking to get a new kit (Maple) in about a year or two.

I can't honestly answer your question, and if I could the answer would be subjective anyway. I suggest you email the guy - dennis@bibdrums.com - and see what he can set up for you.

Yep, I will, but it'll be a while, he told me it takes him 3 to 4 month to build a kit. At those prices I can wait. Bib drums made their nationwide debut on Letterman recently, pretty cool for Dennis.

I love the blue, like Brian's. I also like Jessica's. Er, drums that is... But man, a nice green... HMMMM

I went with a natural, kind of like the drums on his site, but a few shades darker...

An FYI:

I received an email this morning from a Bib customer that I emailed a while back with questions concerning his satisfation with his kit. He is a working drummer. Here is his reply:

"Sorry for the lateness of this reply......I haven’t been able to check this account until now. The drums, to put it mildly, are fantastic. I love and swear by them now, and Dennis is absolutely one of the most dedicated and determined people I know generally speaking, let alone as a crafter of drums. If you’re thinking of getting a kit from him, do it. ‘Nuff said! : )"

I recently E-mailed Dennis from BIB to ask about a price for a kit I had in mind. It was:

10" Rack Tom
12" Rack Tom
13" Rack Tom
16" Floor Tom
24" Bass drum

He said he'd make that for me for $1,300 (I lost the E-mailNot the exact price, give or take $70.)

I then added up the same exact kit, but a Tama Starclassic and all together for the SAME kit, $2,900.

BIB is heaven on the wallet. My next kit will be from BIB.
