I haven't owned either, but I have friends that would swear by the Axis and others that would swear by the Pearl. Go to the store and check them out, audition them for yourself and tell us what YOU think. :-)

i have axis long boards and i really like them, but i tried out the demon drive at guitar center and will have to admit, despite the way they had them set up they were really smooth and fast..definitely try them both out

Very true -- you get what you pay for whether it's quality, design, technology or reputation.

I have the Demon Drive double pedal.

I used Yamaha's for years but tried the Pearl & was blown away. It converts into a long-board too... I haven't actually done that yet because I am so happy with it as I have it now.

There's no doubt that the Axis pedals are incredible, but the Pearl is an alternative + has far better distribution outside the USA (I'm in the U.K). I think the Pearl is slightly cheaper too, but we're talking serious money anyway!

I used my Yamaha during recording of my solo project (Rich Kenyon "Something For The Week"), but the Demon Drive made end of one track ("Cell")... it's a very fast double bass-drum roll at the end of the track & I don't think I could have done it on the Yamaha. This pedal is a real joy.
