I just made a list of songs for my beginning drum students (mostly kids but also some teens and adults) to listen to and play along with. Here's what I put on the list:
Eminence Front -- The Who Procol Harum -- Whiter Shade of Pale ... and the Cradle Will Rock -- Van Halen Comfortably Numb -- Pink Floyd Free Falling -- Tom Petty Back in Black -- AC/DC Creep -- Radiohead For Whom the Bell Tolls -- Metallica Enter Sandman -- Metallica Helpless -- Neil Young Heart of Gold -- Neil Young Walk This Way -- Aerosmith (Every drummer's gotta learn the intro to this one!) Rock This Town -- Stray Cats Green Onions -- Booker T. and the MGs We Will Rock You -- Queen (this actually has no drums in it, believe it or not, but it's still a great play-along song for beginners) Brain Stew -- Green Day Gimme All Your Lovin' -- ZZ Top Oasis -- Live Forever Alice in Chain -- Man in the Box Blitzkrieg Bop -- The Ramones (when they're ready to play fast)
What would you add to the list?
Thanks,
Dave Moadel

| Two easy songs that come to my mind are Cumbersome by Seven Mary Three and Shooting Star by Bad Company. |

| One of my firsts was Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. I was so proud! Also, What I Got by Sublime. I will check out some of the original posters suggestions--Thanks! |

| How about some of the music from the 50's and 60's? Like "louie, Louie", Shout, etc, etc. Maybe even some of the do wop songs. They worked for me. |

I'm learning "Say It Ain't So" right now! First half, easy. Second, not as much. |
