I just made a list of songs for my beginning drum students (mostly kids but also some teens and adults) to listen to and play along with. Here's what I put on the list:

Eminence Front -- The Who
Procol Harum -- Whiter Shade of Pale
... and the Cradle Will Rock -- Van Halen
Comfortably Numb -- Pink Floyd
Free Falling -- Tom Petty
Back in Black -- AC/DC
Creep -- Radiohead
For Whom the Bell Tolls -- Metallica
Enter Sandman -- Metallica
Helpless -- Neil Young
Heart of Gold -- Neil Young
Walk This Way -- Aerosmith (Every drummer's gotta learn the intro to this one!)
Rock This Town -- Stray Cats
Green Onions -- Booker T. and the MGs
We Will Rock You -- Queen (this actually has no drums in it, believe it or not, but it's still a great play-along song for beginners)
Brain Stew -- Green Day
Gimme All Your Lovin' -- ZZ Top
Oasis -- Live Forever
Alice in Chain -- Man in the Box
Blitzkrieg Bop -- The Ramones (when they're ready to play fast)

What would you add to the list?

Thanks,

Dave Moadel

Two easy songs that come to my mind are Cumbersome by Seven Mary Three and Shooting Star by Bad Company.

Don't just ignore this from my name, but I'd go with The Beatles.

One of my firsts was Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. I was so proud! Also, What I Got by Sublime. I will check out some of the original posters suggestions--Thanks!

How about some of the music from the 50's and 60's? Like "louie, Louie", Shout, etc, etc. Maybe even some of the do wop songs. They worked for me.

All politians are liars and thieves!!! So much for the "stimulus bill"!!!

I'm learning "Say It Ain't So" right now! First half, easy. Second, not as much.
